Purpose: Recognize individuals who exemplify JAMPACT’s mission of service and contribution to Jamaica’s social and economic development.

AWARD DESCRIPTIONS & NOMINEES

JAMPACT Heroes of the Diaspora Awards (2 Awards)
In the spirit of Nanny and Marcus Garvey, for members of the Caribbean Diaspora who have excelled in the arts, sciences, humanities, civil service or public policy.

JAMPACT Rising Star Awards (Select 2 recipients)
For young persons whose contributions to the Jamaican community have indicated their potential to become leaders in our society. This is open to individuals from the broader community who are not JAMPACT members as well as JAMPACT members past and present.

Former JAMPACT member, helped form D.O.C. which sends medical teams
biannually to the Caribbean to provide needed surgical and medical subspecialty
services to underserved areas of the Caribbean.

Rules: Voting for these awards was conducted by email. All current JAMPACT members were eligible to vote.

Key Dates:

  • Tuesday, October 28, 2003, midnight: Final nomination deadline
  • Wednesday, October 29: the list of nominees will be posted on the web site and delivered via email to JAMPACT members
  • Tuesday November 4, 2003: voting for these awards will be conducted by email and will be completed by midnight. All current JAMPACT members are eligible to vote.
  • Friday, November 14, 2003: Award recipients will be announced at the 5th Anniversary Fundraiser Celebration.
