Join JAMPACT in its efforts to bring about tangible change for our fellow Jamaicans. JAMPACT will
present a check to Dr. Roy Streete, the featured speaker at its general meeting on Thursday,
toward building adequate housing for a Mount Peace, Hanover family whose home was destroyed in
Hurricane Ivan. The Kelleys, a family of nine, live in the 1-room construct pictured below. Their
living conditions are not merely uncomfortable or unpretty, but unsafe.
Dr. Streete will be updating the membership on his efforts thus far to raise funds to build adequate
and sanitary living conditions for the family.
Hear Dr. Streete discuss other initiatives in which he is actively involved to bring about positive
change throughout Africa and the Diaspora community.
Dr. Roy Streete has been actively involved in development work for over a decade. He founded the
Organization for International Development 15 years ago. The organization provides mainly health
services but also educational material and information to underserved populations throughout the
Diaspora, including Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. The organization also provides services
in Africa, particularly Ghana and Ethiopia.
Dr. Streete is the Health Sector Leader for the Jamaican Diaspora Initiative in the Northeast U.S.
He is also an integral player in a committee set up by the Jamaican Ministry of Health to reform
Jamaica's Health system.
Educated at Howard University, Dr. Streete currently runs a private dental practice in the Bronx,
and his recent efforts at contributing to the community involve raising funds to improve the living
conditions of the Kelley Family of Jamaica, whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan.
