JAMPACT's key initiatives and activities are primarily implemented through
several committees. Each of these committees is currently recruiting members.
To join any of the following JAMPACT committees, simply send your inquiry to the
e-mail address provided:
Education Committee
Chairperson: Tassie Scarlett
Contact: education@jampact.org
Early childhood and teacher training are two crucial issues facing Jamaica's education system.
Hence, JAMPACT's Education Committee has gravitated towards these two areas. Our goals are
twofold: to provide financial support and maintain strong ties with institutions and persons
representative of these two areas. This includes, among other things, promoting literacy,
adopting basic schools in Jamaica and building a scholarship fund for students at various
teachers colleges.
Fundraising Committee
Chairperson: Akelia Lawrence
Contact: fundraising@jampact.org
Fundraising is one of the many ways in which JAMPACT achieves its mission. Throughout the year
a series of fundraisers are held to raise money for our core mission objectives including our
Adopt-A-School program and other charitable initiatives as well as our various think-tank
related initiatives. Our charitable activities support the development of our adopted basic
schools, fund continuing education programs for basic schoolteachers and provide grants to select
not-for-profit organizations in Jamaica.
Membership Committee
Chairperson: Georgia McCarthy
Contact: membership@jampact.org
JAMPACTs mission is to use our collective energies, intelligence and resources, to make
positive contributions towards the improvement of social and economic conditions in
Jamaica. In order to do this, we need a diverse membership. The Membership Committee
of JAMPACT will recruit, retain and engage members through the planning and
implementation of socially progressive activities year round.
- Recruit new members.
- To increase the awareness of and strengthen the image of JAMPACT in the Jamaican community.
- To communicate the accomplishments of the organization to the greater community.
- Promote and support the overall goals of the organization
- Promote relationship building amongst the JAMPACT membership
Think Tank Committee
Chairperson: Not available at the moment
Contact: thinktank@jampact.org
One of JAMPACT's goals is to contribute to the ongoing public debate on critical issues
facing Jamaica. The Think Tank Committee facilitates this debate by researching current
topics of relevance to Jamaica, and organizing various panels and forums for discussing
these issues. The current dialogue will focus on ways to achieve solutions to the many
problems facing Jamaica today.
Communications Committee
Chairperson: Yannique Coleman
Contact: communications@jampact.org
The goal of the Communications Committee is to manage the public relations and marketing
activities of the organization. As such, the Committee expects to work closely with the
other committees in assisting and guiding with the promotion of their programs and
events. The committeeÂ’s work includes the following key areas:
- Recruit new members.
- Brand development
- JAMPACT website development & maintenance
- Draft and design JAMPACT Newsletter
- Social networking
